Second iteration into the second round of trips. After Mark fails miserably in the first round (you’ll notice no post for 2007), he completely redeems himself with a great trip to North Carolina for some wind/water sports. Beautiful stuff. We found a great surf shop that had great patience for us, and even beer on tap!
Thanks to Ocean Air Sports for a great experience. Great instructors and good gear.
The destination was Avon, North Carolina. Trip started with an incredibly well timed pickup at the Norfolk airport in Virginia. Mark, Ian, Cole and Big Jay drove down from Ontario and picked up Tolton and I after our flight from Calgary with about a 15minute lag after driving for about 15 hours! It was all looking up from there – after a fairly lengthy detour down the wrong spit, we got into our rental house (awesome).
Accommodations were great, and we spent the next three days paddle boarding (flat water and surfing), wind surfing, kite “dragging” on the beach and catamaran’ing. Tolton and I had most of an extra day in Norfolk waiting for our flight so we took in the local aquarium/naval museum. All in all a great trip (except for Big Jay letting us know about his MS!).
Thanks to the boys for another great trip. Tolton’s on deck for next year. I know he won’t disappoint.
